Garrett Juice<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Garrett Juice evolved over a period of years as I would tell readers and callers how to make an effective foliar feeding mix.\u00ac\u2020The mix has always had compost\u00ac\u2020tea, molasses and seaweed, but the other ingredients have varied.\u00ac\u2020Through trial and error, we came to the basic mix we use today.\u00ac\u2020As always, my formulas are for making the mix at home, but there are commercial products on the market for convenience.<\/p>\n

To make your own, here are the instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mix the following in a gallon of water.<\/p>\n

Garrett Juice (ready to spray):<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 cup compost tea or liquid humate
\n1 ounce molasses
\n1 ounce\u00ac\u2020apple cider vinegar
\n1 ounce liquid seaweed<\/p>\n

For Garrett Juice Plus and more fertilizer value add:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1- 2 ounces of liquid fish (fish hydrolysate) per gallon of spray.<\/p>\n

For disease and insect control add:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00ac\u00ba cup garlic tea or
\n\u00ac\u00ba cup garlic\/pepper tea or
\n1 – 2 ounces of orange oil<\/p>\n

For homemade fire ant killer add: <\/strong><\/p>\n

2 ounces of orange oil per gallon of Garrett Juice<\/p>\n

Note 1<\/strong>: \u00ac\u2020To avoid burning plant foliage, the ready-to-use solution should not have more than 2 ounces of orange oil per gallon of spray.<\/p>\n

Note 2<\/strong>: \u00ac\u2020We now know why the mix works so well, not only on the foliage, but also in the soil. The ingredients are a well balanced blend of nutrients and food for both beneficial fungi and bacteria.<\/p>\n

Garrett Juice Concentrate:<\/strong>\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020<\/p>\n

Mix the following:<\/p>\n

1 gallon of compost tea or liquid humate
\n1 pint liquid seaweed
\n1 pint apple cider vinegar
\n1 pint molasses.<\/p>\n

To make Garrett Juice Plus:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Add 1 pint fish hydrolysate
\nUse\u00ac\u20202 oz. of this concentrate\u00ac\u2020per gallon of water for\u00ac\u2020foliar spraying.<\/p>\n

\nTo make a version of Garrett Juice Pro<\/strong>, add bacteria and\u00ac\u2020mycorrhizal\u00ac\u2020fungus.<\/p>\n

Application:<\/strong>
\nApply the ready to spray mix at a rate of approximately one gallon per 1,000 sq. ft. or 35 gallons per acre.\u00ac\u2020<\/p>\n

Add 2 – 4 oz. of the concentrate to one gallon of water and then spray\u00ac\u2020at a rate of approximately one gallon per 1,000 sq. ft. or 35 gallons per acre.\u00ac\u2020<\/p>\n

Commercial Products:<\/strong>
\nSeveral manufacturers have manufactured Garrett Juice over the years, available in Garden Centers, hardware stores, Farm & Feed stores and online. Look for\u00ac\u2020Medina Garrett Juice Plus in one, five, and 55-gallon containers.<\/p>\n
