Appointments are also available for select animals. Animals at the Jan Rees-Jones building don&#8217;t need an appointment. Some of the SPCA dogs up for adoption are temporarily housed in the Russell E. Dealey Rescue Center. This overflow area for adoptable animals is nearby but is accessible by appointment only. Please browse available animals at <a href=\"https:\/\/spcafindapet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">spca.org\/findapet<\/a> and visit spca.org\/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org\/catadopt to inquire about a cat.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These adult dogs and adult cats are at the SPCA of Texas&#8217; Dallas Animal Care Center and our Ellis County Animal Care Center (2570 FM Road 878, Waxahachie, TX).\u00a0 Adoptions are sponsored by the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center. There&#8217;s one exception\u2014when a senior adopts a senior pet, age seven or older the adoption fee is waived. Puppies and kittens under the age of six months are $150. Fee includes spay\/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV\/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea\/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of MetLife Insurance, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>!!! A change in the fees\/offerings at the SPCA<\/strong>:\u00a0We have changed our Senior program. &#8220;Senior Sweethearts&#8221;\u00a0allows anyone, no matter their age, to adopt any pets age 6 and older for free. She is shy at first, is quiet and gentle, but is great with other dogs. At age two years and weighing 53 pounds, Princess is as big as she&#8217;ll get. She is learning to walk on a leash but is characterized as respectful and treat motivated &#8211; what a great combination for your next pet! She&#8217;s good in the car, love exploring, and because she has been at the SPCA for longer than 60 days, she is a &#8220;Longtime Lovable&#8221; and her adoption fee is free. She has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccines. He&#8217;s great on a leash, loves going for walks, and is great with people and other dogs, and you&#8217;ll see evidence of his joy with a big smile and wagging tail. Butters is 65 pounds and has a smooth blond coat, floppy soft ears and a black nose and muzzle. Butters is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccines. At a year and a half old she may still have some growing to do, but is already potty trained and walks well on a leash. Lazuli is currently healing from a mass removal surgery and is looking for a quiet, caring space where she can finish healing. This dog is bright, affectionate, friendly, good with other dogs, and a great cuddler. She is available for foster while she heals, and soon will be ready for adoption, and it can be that the foster home is the one that adopts. Fostering an SPCA of Texas shelter pet doesn\u2019t cost a thing except love and time. Everything is provided\u2014bowls, food, bedding, collar, medications. At 59-pounds she loves people and is a good-sized snuggler, is friendly and gentle and walks well on a leash. She gets long well with other dogs and loves car rides and is fond of water. Like all shelter pets at the SPCA of Texas, Alexa has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her vaccinations.
