\n\tRecently got a question about this blood-shot eyeball looking growth. It is one of the various galls that show up in red oaks. Most galls like this are cosmetic and not an indication of a serious problem unless the population of these growths is extremely heavy.<\/p>\n

\tPlant galls are abnormal outgrowths of plant tissues, similar to benign tumors or warts on animals. They can be caused by various parasites, from fungi and bacteria, to insects and mites.<\/p>\n

\n\tToday\u2019s newsletter is just a photographic review of the many galls that I have seen and shot and\/or have received from listeners and readers for identification.<\/p>\n
